Geographic Web Solutions has recently provided Birds Australia based in Melbourne, Victoria with an interactive GIS web application that allows registered bird atlassers to enter accurate geographically referenced bird observations and keep track of their own observational history. Members of the public can view bird species distribution maps across the continent of Australia and get species lists by clicking anywhere on the map. Current members of Birds Australia have finer grained data access compared to non-members. For a fee, all users can download custom bird lists by drawing a polygon around their specific area of interest on the map.
